Waitaria Bay Estate

Waitaria Bay Estate in the Marlborough Sounds is a boutique vineyard by the sea that produces traditional hand crafted wines that are grown organically. We hand prune, shoot thin, leaf pluck and hand pick in the pursuit of perfection. Only the best of our grapes make it to the wine press as we strive to create the best possible wine from each of our varietals.
Our wines are available for sale in both the Untied States and in New Zealand. If you would like to order our wine and live in New Zealand, phone us and we can fill your order.

Sauvignon Blanc Red Deer WineSauvignon Blanc

Gold Medal Winner 2013
Bronze Medal Winner 2010
Silver Medal Winner 2011

A rich style of sauvignon blanc with lime zest, mineral and ripe tropical fruit flavours. A bold and concentrated wine with loads of character! In Raymond Chan’s 2013 wine review he said: “Bright, even straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is fresh with a fine core of gooseberry and grassy fruit aromas, tightly bound with nuances of fresh herbs, limes and minerals emerging in the glass. Dry and elegantly proportioned, fine and tight flavours of gooseberries, herbs and minerals show with good intensity and drive, the palate showing some alcohol with the linearity. Fresh, bright and lacy acidity brings liveliness to the mouthfeel, and along with refined textures, carry the flavours of sweet gooseberry fruit to a crisp and zesty finish. This is a fine-textured and tightly bound, crisp Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and minerally flavours. Match with seafood over the next 2+ years. Fruit hand-picked and WBP, stainless-steel fermented to 13.64% alc. and 3.4 g/L rs, the wine spending 6 months on lees.”
